FIRST TIME MEETING BESO?
Beso Beach began in 2012 on Formentera’s Cavall d’en Borràs beach, founded by Rafa Viar and Angie López. Their idea brought food, design and the pleasures of the seaside into one distinctive place.
At its heart is a restaurant experience: settle around a table, share a meal and enjoy the setting. Music and a sociable crowd give the day its energy. The name means “kiss” in Spanish, a fitting introduction to a brand built around warmth and connection.
Today, its Spanish destinations include Formentera, Ibiza and Mallorca. Each has its own character, but all share a relaxed Mediterranean outlook.
WHAT MAKES IT BESO?
Basque–Mediterranean means the culinary traditions of northern Spain meeting the flavours of the Mediterranean coast. Think seafood, paellas and a meal that gives everyone something to talk about.
Beso has its own music arm, Beso Sound, working with artists, resident DJs and events. The soundtrack is part of the brand’s identity, giving a gathering its own pace and atmosphere.
Natural textures, open-air settings and time together. Picture arriving with friends for lunch and realising the afternoon has become the occasion. That easy, sociable feeling is the appeal.

THE TASTE / BASQUE–MEDITERRANEAN
Paella in the middle. Seafood to pass around. Someone reaching for the last bite. Beso’s Spanish kitchens bring Basque character and Mediterranean flavours to a table made for sharing.
Make it a long lunch. Swap stories between mouthfuls. Leave a little room for whatever comes next. Here, good food is the beginning of a very good afternoon.

FORMENTERA
Follow the sandy path through Ses Salines. Trade the rush for sea air and a seat at the table. Beso Formentera brings the barefoot mood: sun on your shoulders, good company and nowhere else you need to be.
Next stop, Mallorca: the same easy Mediterranean mood, with hotel life in the mix at ZEL in Palmanova.
THE NEXT CHAPTER / BAHRAIN
Amwaj Beachfront has signed an agreement to bring Beso Beach to Meliá Beachfront. This is an announced new destination for Bahrain, bringing a Spanish beach-club identity to Amwaj’s waterfront.
The exciting possibility is a new reason to make the journey to Amwaj: a lunch to plan around, a place to meet friends and a shoreline experience with a recognisable international personality. For people who already live nearby, it could bring a fresh social focus closer to home. For property owners, that offers a useful point of difference: an address associated with an experience people may actively seek out.
Coming to Amwaj Islands. Opening and reservation details are still to be confirmed.
Explore the Spanish hospitality story ↗WHY THIS MATTERS FOR AMWAJ
The ambition is to give Amwaj a fuller destination experience. Meliá and Beso bring different strengths to that story.
Meliá Hotels & Resorts is an international hospitality brand. Its announced role at the development covers the hotel and private beach operations, bringing hotel-management experience to the waterfront.
A distinctive dining and music concept can make a location part of people’s plans: where to meet, where to celebrate and where to spend an afternoon. That is the opportunity Beso represents. For an investor, the relevance is destination visibility and guest appeal, rather than a direct share in beach-club revenue.
Together, the brands could help Amwaj reach people looking for a coastal break as well as those who already call it home. The potential is a more active waterfront and a richer visitor experience. Whether that translates into rental performance depends on demand, delivery and day-to-day operations.
A FEW THINGS TO KNOW
The Bahrain partnership has been announced. Opening dates, reservations and the local programme are still to be confirmed.
The Spanish venues introduce the brand’s character. Bahrain’s menu, entertainment programme and access arrangements will be specific to the local venue and have not been confirmed here.
They are separate brands with complementary roles. Meliá is the hotel and resort brand; Beso Beach is the dining and beach-club concept being brought into the Meliá Beachfront destination.
